Intro's & Conclusions

TOPIC SENTENCE (1/5)

- Could be a rhetorical question, statement or definition.
- Should be general to allow a greater scope of discussion later on.
- Needs to be linked to the question and the information spoken of in your body.

LINK TO QUESTION (2/5)

- You need to directly answer the question using the terms given.

INTRODUCE THE TEXTS (3/5)

- You need to introduce the texts you are going to discuss.
- You must refer to the FULL title and composer of the text.

TECHNIQUES/CONTENT (4/5)

- You must identify EACH of the techniques that you are going to discuss in your response.
- This is also the case if you are discussing themes and or particular aspects of a text.

MINI-SUMMARY (5/5)

- Include a sentence or statement that links your introduction to your first paragraph.
- This is not compulsory but it adds to the linear structure of your response.

  1. Each of the five points should be one or two sentences in your response.

    Your conclusion is the same, merely in the reverse order I.E. start with a mini summary.
