You've watched John Williamson's "True Blue" in class. Ultimately the song talks about what it means to be Australian. So what do YOU think it means to be Australian? Answer with a comment below of no more than 100 words.
To be australian to me means that we have lots of public holidays to spend with our family and friends. To be australian is to be able to have freedom, blue skys, to be able to speak our minds, and be able to choose our government & doing what we love doing, beaches and snags on the bbq ;D AND the most important thing is to celebrate australia day on january the 26th ! (my speech is so dry :( )

It does not take a hero to be an Australian, but it does take a person participation and commitment to be Australian. The true answer lies in what you can do for Australia! What you do to take part and what you do to help the country itself. Australian is not meant to be an independent country but rather it's a community who looks out for each other. That’s what it takes to be an Australian. Taking part in eating meat pie today? Hold a backyard barbecue and invite your friends over for a game of cricket. That is what makes Australia Australian. We will always shine green and gold to the world!
While others like jam, peanut butter and nutella for breakfast. Us, Australians love our VEGEMITE. Apparently Vegemite is actually a good hangover cure. I wouldn’t know because I’ve never had a hangover, but the Vitamin B and Salt content in it helps you return to normal faster.
So if you’re ripped and had a little too much to drink or smoke on Australia day this recipe is for you! No other country can handle the taste and that is what make us Austrlian!
To be Australian it means to be able to speak your mind, the right of freedom to be part of a multicultural society, to eat Vegemite, to be a weetbix kid, to be able to have a say in society without being punished on your own political views or thoughts. To eat lamingtons, Pavlova cakes, damper bread, Sheppard’s pie etc. To celebrate Australia day and enjoy that day for what it is of being Australian.
& i forgot to add also to be Australia means to be able to come home with an 80% maths test not like an Asian to come home with a 98% maths test and get told of .
I shall smite every malevolent malignant heathen in this country because none is as perfect as me. Through the frozen eons of times, Australia has been the one and only true mortal realm to accept massive quantity of Lebanese immigrants but thee shall not be the end of my speech for i am voting for Abbott because vegemite suck and I support the Nutella Company with passion.
No seriously now, Being Australian is something dearly respect by myself and my family. I think Australian people have the biggest most abysmal heart in this world we're living in. They surely are hard working people, like to take matters the easy way, adore vegemite and love the family and friends. What makes us Australians is also the unique wonderful animals, the amazing nature and the old indigenous culture that Australia carries throughout our era.
The Morning Star paled slowly, the Cross hung low to the sea And down the shadowy reaches the tide came swirling free. The lustrous purple blackness of the soft Australian night Waned in the grey awakening that heralded the light; Still in the dying darkness, still in the forest dim The pearly dew of the dawning clung to each giant limb, Till the sun came up from ocean, red with the cold sea mist, And smote on the limestone ridges, and the shining tree-tops kissed; Then the fiery Scorpion vanished, the magpie's note was heard, And the wind in the she oak wavered and the honeysuckles stirred; The airy golden vapour rose from the river breast, The kingfisher came darting out of his crannied nest, And the bulrushes and reed-beds put off their sallow grey And burnt with cloudy crimson at the dawning of the day.
This question could be answered in many different ways because it is such a broad matter. You could say it means to be Australian by showing id (identification) or to be Australian you would need to talk, dress or even eat like an Australian. Neither of these questions are wrong although think differently about this. From my point of view being Australian is living in harmony as an Australian; embracing what life in Australia has to offer. I believe the people (community) are what make Australia. If you take the people as a good thing then you take Australia the same way.
To be Australian is to be apart of the country, to grow up in a free spirited, muliti cultural society. The Australian spirit is freedom, to help others. Kickback

Max's comment is a poem written by his sister. She is obviously a fantastic English student. Let's hope that Max can follow in her footsteps one day!
